What are The Characteristics of Metal Stamping Process?
The stamping production of stamping parts relies on dies and punches to complete the processing process. Compared with other processing methods, it has the following characteristics in terms of technology and economy:
1) Metal stamping generally does not require heating of the blank, nor does it cut a large amount of metal like metal cutting processing, so it not only saves energy, but also saves metal materials. It is one of the processing methods with less or no chips, and the resulting metal stamping parts generally do not need to be processed again.
2) The dimensional accuracy of metal stamping parts is guaranteed by the die, so the quality is stable and the interchangeability is good. The accuracy of general blanking parts can reach IT10~IT11, the precision of fine blanking parts can reach IT6~IT9, and the general bending and drawing parts can reach IT13~IT14; the surface roughness Ra of ordinary blanking parts can reach 3.2~12.5μm, and the precision blanking parts can reach 0.3~2.5μm.
3) The stamping processing range is wide, and various types of metal stamping parts can be processed, ranging in size from the second hand of a clock to the longitudinal beam of a car. Due to the use of mold processing, stamping can obtain parts with thin walls, light weight, good rigidity, high surface quality and complex shapes that cannot be or are difficult to manufacture by other processing methods.
4) For ordinary punching machines, dozens of pieces can be produced per minute, and for high-speed punching machines, hundreds or even thousands of pieces can be produced per minute, so it is a highly efficient processing method.
There are also some disadvantages in stamping, mainly manifested in the two problems of noise and vibration during stamping. These two problems are not entirely caused by the stamping process and the mold itself, but mainly caused by the backwardness of traditional stamping equipment. With the advancement of science and technology, I believe these two problems will be solved.
